Why I Built This
I didn't read about this
from a book. I lived it.
Enjoy life while you can.
Nearly two decades in the oilfield — Europe first, then Russia, Kazakhstan, Brunei, and Indonesia. In 2015, the oil price crashed and Halliburton let go of roughly a fifth of its workforce. I was one of them.
I moved to Phuket. Not long after, a second divorce, and I became a single father to a two-year-old daughter with no plan beyond figuring it out. I started a villa rental business, did a yacht master qualification, tried BBQ catering, started a yacht charter business — whatever it took to make a living, I tried it. Ten years of building things on my own terms, mostly by trial and error.
What I didn't fix in all that time was the pattern underneath it. Train hard, get hurt or distracted, stop completely, disappear for years, start again from zero. Thirty years of it, across continents, across every part of my life — not just fitness.
The Comeback Code is what I built to end that cycle — for myself first, and now for other men carrying the same pattern.
